World Water Day 2017

In connection with the World Water Day Celebrations 2017, CED in association with Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS), Indian Society of Geomatics (ISG) and Indian Meteorological Society (IMS) has organised One Day Workshop on Water and Waste Water Management at Kanakakunnu Palace, Thiruvannanthapuram on 22nd March 2017 . Dr. E.J. James, Director & Dean, Water Institute, Karunya University, Coimbatore talked on the Water Future of Kerala and Dr. Babu Ambat and P V Radhakrishnan, CED, Thiruvananthapuram presented their detailed paper on Waste Water: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

The afternoon session was an open forum on Role of Citizens, Communities and LSGs in  Water and Waste Water Managemen. Dr. Babu Ambat introduced the topic. Adv. D K Murali, MLA, Vamanapuram; Dr. R Remakanthan, Member Local Government Commission, Kerala and Shri Jagajeevan, KSSP, Thiruvananthapuram were the panel members for the discussion. They have expressed their views on addressing the issue at local level. People from all walks of life, elected representatives, planners, researchers, academicians, NGOs, students and  representatives from local community participated in the discussion thereafter and expressed their views and agreed to participate in future action. Final it it was decided to start a model at the Vamanapuram Assembly Constituency in volving all 9 Grama Panchayat in the area.
