The Centre for Environment and Development is an autonomous research, training and consultancy organisation recognised as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) by Department of Scientific & Industrial Research(DSIR) Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. CED is a National Key Resource Centre for Drinking Water and Sanitation,Ministry of Jal Sakthi, Government of India; an Empanelled Training Institute of Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs,Government of India;Empanelled Agency of Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) Ministry of Environment Forests and Climate Change,Government of India for activities related to Environment Management Studies and an Empanelled Agency for providing technical support to the cities / towns of States/ Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the field of water supply and sanitation, sewerage and drainage systems by Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs(MoHUA) Government of India;Empanelled Agency of Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation(MoSPI), Government of India for large scale surveys and studies and also an ISO 9001:2015 Certified Institution.
With headquarters at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala; CED is having its Eastern Regional Centre at Bhubaneswar,Odisha ; a Regional Centre at Hyderabad, and a Rural Resource Centre at Jagathsinghpur, Odisha.CED is also has Project Offices in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam,Trissur and Palakkad in Kerala and completed nearly 185 projects over 33 years across multiple Indian states ,in cross cutting sectors covering our seven Program Areas.To provide emphasis in the area of Social Medicine and Public Health and to support the community in affordable basic clinical services, CED established a People's Hospital and Research Institute at CED, Thiruvananthapuram under its broad banner-CED HEALTH
